No dustjacket. A set of eight Caldecott picture books bound together. c1880-1910. These were originally published individually and the pages are numbered thus. Green boards with gilt title on spine, edges, spine tips and corners rubbed. Binding tight, fingering to most margins, margin tear to cover of Ride a-cock horse, large corner torn from cover of Hey diddle diddle, corner torn from back cover of the milkmaid, two pages from the fox jumps over the parson's gate have been repaired with new paper inset, couple of other edge tears or small nicks. Board's re-glued and original spine relayed. Front cover shows nursery rhyme characters and back cover a man holding two 'billboards'' proclaiming 'three other selections are issued uniform with this volume - entitled R. Caldecott's picture books No's 1, 3 & 4. Undated. Containing three stories - the house that Jack built, sing a song for sixpence and the Queen of hearts.
